About Our Company

The Curry Company is a Hospitality Consulting and Meeting Management firm based in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The company was founded in 1991.

The key to the company's success is the personal attention that every client receives from the staff, right up to the President, John Curry. Every project has The Curry Company name on it. "That is my motivation to insure that it exceeds our client's expectations."

John Curry - President
John Curry John Curry has over 40 years experience in the hospitality industry. For fifteen years in Yosemite National Park he moved through all levels to top management with the Yosemite Park and Curry Company. This company operated all lodgings and commercial facilities in this most popular National Park. From there he joined the Walt Disney Companies as Director of Hotels for Walt Disney World. He moved to Hilton Head Island in 1973 as Executive Vice President of Sea Pines Resorts. In 1976, he formed his own resort company, Sand Dollar Management, which grew to operating resorts in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida. In 1991, John sold the operating company to concentrate his efforts on management and consulting services. He now has an impressive list of satisfied clients both here and abroad.

Sharon Gordon - President, Meticulous Meeting Management
Sharon Gordon Sharon Gordon has been in the hospitality industry her entire professional career. For fourteen years she was with Sand Dollar Management Corporation where she rose from a Conference Coordinator to Vice President of Sales and Marketing. She had direct responsibility for marketing, sales, and public relations for resorts managed by the company in South Carolina, North Carolina and Florida. In 1991, the company sold their resort operations and formed The Curry Company. Sharon created the division that specializes in site selection, contract negotiation, planning, and servicing groups of all sizes. Her operation has successfully worked with clients in all phases of over 1,000 meetings ranging in size from 20 to 4,000 attendees. Sharon is married to Neil, of Neil Gordon Architect, P.A. on Hilton Head Island, SC.

David Boyd - Vice President
David Boyd David Boyd has over 30 years experience in hotels, resorts and country clubs. He has worked as President, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager for Sonesta Hotels and Omni Hotels and Resorts. He was hired by Omni Hotels to open their first resort, The Sagamore in Bolton Landing, NY based upon his expertise in destination resort management. Since joining The Curry Company, David has served as senior consultant and interim General Manager to The Sea Mist Resort, Fripp Island Resort and The Cliffs Communities, assumed owners representative responsibilities at Sans Souci Resort & Spa in Ocho Rios, Jamaica plus done work for other resorts, hotels, inns and country clubs. David's wife Susan is in management with Ward Edwards, an area engineering firm. They have two daughters and four grandchildren
